The Premier League of the 24th Russian Team Championship is an 8-team single round-robin taking place in Sochi from 1-10 May 2017.
Peter Svidler’s “Bronze Horseman” are the defending champions, but Siberia-Sirius are clear favourites with Kramnik, Giri, Mamedyarov, Nepomniachtchi, Grischuk and Andreikin all on the same team. Teams play six of their eight players in each match.
The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. No draw offers are allowed before move 40.
Teams are ranked by match points, with 2 for a win and 1 for a draw. The top four qualify to play in the 2017 European Club Cup.
